My name is Andy (Anqi) Shao, and I am Chief Scientist at TurboStrat LLC. I lead the company’s R&D (research and development) efforts within the Sports Analytics & Prediction division.

I also hold faculty positions at San Jose State University and Santa Clara University, where I teach courses in mathematics and statistics. My educational credentials include:

• M.S. in Statistics, University of Florida, 2007

We offer a short-term Data Science internship (plan) in Summer 2024, supervised by me, where the structure of the internship closely resembles that of a university thesis, encompassing research activities and coding tasks.

The research broadly focuses on predictive modeling and bettng strategy optimization, inlucding ranking algorithms, feature engineering, ML interpretability & explainability, risk & bankroll management, and Monte Carlo simulation.

Interns will also have the opportunity to connect with senior AI/ML engineers and scientists from the industry, broadening their understanding of how AI/ML techniques are applied in various significant business cases, going beyond the scope of soccer prediction.
